My cement tile roof was damaged (broken and missing tiles) during a recent monsoon storm with strong wind and hail. I also have a small balcony that was nearly due for a fresh application of elastomeric roof coating. I created a project on Yelp that included the tile roof repair and balcony coating. GR roofing was quick to reply and sent George out the next day to review the damage and provide an estimate. He arrived as stated and used a drone to survey the damage on my two-story home. I sent him with one of the tiles that had fallen off the roof to find a match. I received an estimate via email within 48 hours. I received a total of 4 estimates from various local roofing companies and decided to go with GR Roofing. I accepted the proposal online and followed up with a call to inquire about scheduling. I was told by the female that answered the phone that George or Guillermo would call me shortly to get me on the production schedule. No call. I called the next day, with no answer/no callback. Day 2 George called me back and said gave me a start date and an arrival time of between 6-7 AM. I was ready to go bright and early but no one showed. By 9 AM I called and was told that the schedule changed and someone would come later that day or maybe the next day. Two crew members arrived a couple hours later and power-washed my balcony. They were there all of 5 minutes and I barely caught them before they pulled out of my driveway. I asked them whether they would be back later that day to start the roof tile replacement/repair or to apply the first elastomeric coat once the balcony had dried. They said they didn’t know anything about either and were just told to power spray the balcony. I decided to text George to see what was going on. He called and said he would figure out when to send the guys back and get back to me. No response, so I followed up via text that evening. He said he couldn’t find the roof tile but would send the guys out the next day to apply the balcony coating. A single crew member arrived 2+ hours after the scheduled time. I had a plastic wicker sofa on the balcony which George said they would place in the backyard before coating the balcony. When only one guy arrived, I asked him if he needed help moving the sofa, he said yes and I proceeded to hand him the sofa over the balcony once he was on the ground. He told me to let go, he had it, and when I did, he intact did not have it and the sofa punctured my stucco and made a golf ball-sized dent. He said “whoa, sorry, I thought I had it.” The coating was not applied evenly and there were drips and other areas where coverage was minimal. I texted photos to George and asked when they would be back to apply a second coat. He said they only planned on doing one coat. It rained 2 hours later and the next day, the coating had dried to a color much darker than the original color that totally clashed with the house. I sent photos again to George’s and he said he didn’t know why it came out that color but he would send someone to recoat. He scheduled a date a couple days later and his guy was a no show. I texted and asked if the schedule had changed. No response. I followed up again the next day. No response. I waited a couple more days before contacting one of the other roofing companies to come complete and fix the work started by GR Roofing. I sent George a message informing him of my decision due to his continued lack of communication and the unreliability of his crew. No response. I never heard back from George.

The moral of the story: If you want professional customer service, timely and quality work, skip GR Roofing.

Memo & Jorge did an outstanding job on my two roofs following a heavy rain and hail storm. I had Jorge and his crew at GR Roofing replace my roof. I explained to Jorge that I wanted a very professional instalation that will last for decades as this is the house that I will retire in. Jorge did a outanding job of finding the right color and quality of shingles that I wanted. I also wanted the shingle lines on the roof perfectly straight and special care as to nailing the shingles in so they don't damage the shingles. I am pleased to report that GR exceeded my high expectations in terms of the quality of the instalation and after a month of steady rain the roof has functioned perfectly.
